Walking in Brecon Beacons is a hiker's dream, with beautiful views across the mountains, fascinating historic sites and spectacular geological features.

Spend a day fishing for wild brown trout in the tranquility of the Cray valley, surrounded by the beauty of the Brecon Beacons. Day permits for fishing can be obtained from Cnewr House.

Some of the most stunning caves in Europe can be experienced at the popular National Showcaves Centre at Dan-yr-Ogof, just 10mins drive from Cnewr.

Craig-y-nos Country Park is a 40-acre Victorian garden with shady woodlands, meadows, ponds, lawns spread along the banks of the River Tawe. It's perfect for young families and there's a cafe for refreshments too.

One of the best things to do when you're in the Brecon Beacons is head south and explore the stunning beaches of the Gower Peninsula (Cnewr is just 25 miles from the coast).
There are great beaches at Caswell, Oxwich and Three Cliffs bays, and beautiful, 3-mile Rhossili Bay is regularly voted as one of the best beaches in the world.

Spectacularly perched on a sheer cliff face at the west edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Carreg Cennen is worth a visit for the location alone, few castles can boast such a stunning setting. There's a good cafe by the car park.

No list of things to do in the Brecon Beacons would be complete without Waterfall Country - one of the most beautiful and popular parts of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with steep, tree-lined gorges and beautiful tumbling water.
A series of walks takes you to Henrhyd Falls, the highest in the Beacons, Sgwd yr Eira (which you can actually walk behind) and the beautiful Sgwd Gwladus or Lady Falls.

Go 100m underground with a real miner and see what life was like for the thousands of men who worked at the coal face.

Penderyn is currently the only distillery in Wales. As the first to legally distil whisky spirit in the country for more than a century, the distillery is an experience not to be missed.
Book online for the hour-long tour, which takes you through the whole production process and there's also a shop.

The Brecon Beacons is home to the first International Dark Sky reserve in Wales. Go stargazing in the Brecon Beacons with your very own astronomer for the evening in one of the world's few Dark Sky areas!

A home for mountain bikers from novice to professional, BikePark Wales has the UK's greatest and most diverse selection of all-weather mountain bike trails and is situated just outside Merthyr.

This is steam railway running from Pant, 3 miles North of Merthyr Tydfil, to Torpantau following part of the route of the original Brecon & Merthyr Railway which closed in 1964.
